Pre-Tryout FAQs

What age/team should my daughter tryout for?

USAV age-definitions can be found here: http://badgervolleyball.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/2020-Age-Definition.pdf

My daughter is old for her grade, can she play with her grade-level instead of her age-level?

Yes, we will need to request an age waiver from Badger Region (our WI governing body). More information about waivers can be found here: http://badgervolleyball.org/age-definitions/

Parents should register for and bring their daughter to the tryout for the age group they want to play on. When checking in, we will note that a waiver is needed. Once teams are selected, I will take care of submitting the waiver. To do that I will need a copy of the daughters birth certificate and proof of grade.

My daughter has another tryout at the same time, right before or right after your tryout, what do we do?

This happens frequently as a result of the way Badger Region runs the tryout process. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do. We cannot offer a personal tryout or schedule an individual time for any player. Our best recommendation is to come to our tryout for as long as you can.

Should I try out for a specific position or show up regardless if I know what position I should try out for?

When you check in, there will be sheets that you can write down your preferred position.  We will take what you write down into consideration, but we will use the tryout as an overall evaluation of all your abilities.  Once the season starts, we will play you based on your strengths and what is best for you and the team.

When do you begin picking teams?

The team selection process begins immediately after tryouts. Our coaching staff begins reviewing evaluations and forming teams that night. Phone calls to players begins as soon as possible. Because so many calls need to be made, some athletes may get a phone call on Sunday afternoon, while others may get a phone call Monday or later. We will not call after 8:30pm, to respect family time. If you do not hear from us on Sunday, this DOES NOT mean you will not be offered a spot on our teams. Even if others have received a call. Please be patient with us as we get through calls.
